Hexagram 62 · Preponderance of the Small

亨，利贞。可小事，不可大事。飞鸟遗之音，不宜上，宜下，大吉。
小过象征小有越过、行事宜向低处。通达、利于守正。此时只宜处理具体小事，绝不可启动宏大战略（不可大事）。如飞鸟过而遗音，不宜向上高飞、宜向下降落低调，如此大吉。
初六 飞鸟以凶。
六二 过其祖，遇其妣，不及其君，遇其臣，无咎。
九三 弗过防之，从或戕之，凶。
九四 无咎，弗过遇之。往厉必戒，勿用永贞。
六五 密云不雨，自我西郊。公弋取彼在穴。
上六 弗遇过之，飞鸟离之，凶，是谓灾眚。

This calls for success on a modest scale — holding steady in small matters is rewarding, but this is not the time for grand undertakings. Like a bird flying low and calling out as it goes, it is unwise to climb too high; staying close to the ground brings great good fortune.
Initial Six: A bird flying now, before it's ready, meets with misfortune.
Six in the second: Passing by the grandfather to meet the grandmother instead, or failing to reach the ruler but meeting his minister instead -- there's no fault in reaching for the nearer, fitting alternative.
Nine in the third: Without real vigilance here, someone can come up from behind and strike -- misfortune.
Nine in the fourth: There's nothing to fault in meeting the right person without overreaching. Moving forward now is risky, so stay alert and hold back rather than forcing continuous action.
Six in the fifth: Heavy clouds bank up without releasing rain, drifting in from our western edge -- meanwhile the duke goes hunting and brings down what was hiding in its den.
Six at the top: Overshooting the mark and missing the encounter entirely, like a bird already flown out of reach -- this is misfortune, a disaster brought on by one's own excess.
